CALL FOR PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS – Now Open
Deadline: November 21, 2026
We’re looking for presentations for the 2027 ITS Northern Lights Conference on innovative ideas, best practices, and emerging trends in ITS for traffic operations and maintenance operations.
New this year, breakout sessions will run in two tracks: Traffic Operations and Maintenance Operations. Presentations should be 15–20 minutes long.
Suggested topics include:
- Traffic Management Systems
- Signal Operations
- Traveler Information
- Connected and Automated Vehicles (Trucking or Passenger Vehicles)
- Rural ITS Deployments
- Truck Parking Information Systems
- Road Weather Management
- Maintenance Decision Support Systems
- Use of AI in Transportation
- Probe Data for Performance Measures (Winter Maintenance or Traffic Ops)
- Human Factors and Behavior

- Presentation title
- Presentation description (500 words or less)

Thank you to everyone who attended the 32nd Annual ITS Minnesota Fall Forum on October 13 at the North End Event Center on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Thanks especially to our presenters, panelists, and session facilitators. This year we tried more workshops, roundtables, and interactive panels, and your willingness to share your work made those sessions a success!
It was great to see so many people connecting across agencies, firms, and research institutions. We hope you left with new ideas and new contacts!
2026 ITS Minnesota Educational
Scholarship Competition
Exciting opportunity for students interested in the future of transportation!
ITS Minnesota is now accepting applications for the 2026 Educational Scholarship Competition — awarding up to six $1,500 scholarships to students pursuing paths in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV). From smarter traffic signals to self-driving vehicles, ITS/CAV technology is transforming how people and goods move safely and efficiently. If you're a student who's curious about that future — or know one who is — this is a great way to get involved and get recognized.

Training Announcement: MnDOT ITS/TMS Design What's New Refresher Training
MnDOT is offering a half-day ITS/TMS design refresher course covering what's changed in TMS plan design for MnDOT projects since the December 2025 training. The session includes an overview of updated standards, an interactive design problem on creating fiber schematics, and time with technical experts for questions.
📅 Date: Thursday, November 5, 2026, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
