The University
of Minnesota's Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) and ITS
Institute conduct a wide range of transportation-related research,
education, and outreach activities. The ITS Institute is a federal
funded University Transportation Center. The Institute's activities
are guided by its theme of enhancing the safety and mobility
of road- and transit-based transportation through a focus on human-centered technology. This human-centeredapproach
allows for new developments in the core ITS technologies of computing,
sensing, communications, and control systems, which address significant
safety and mobility problems. Additionally, the Institute addresses
transportation issues related to a northern climate, investigates
technologies for improving the safety of rural travel, and considers
social and economic policy issuesrelated to the deployment of ITS
technologies. For more information visit http://www.its.umn.edu/ or contact Max Donath at donath@me.umn.edu.
